What Can We Expect In Marketing In 2023?

As we enter 2023 and with the digital landscape continuously evolving, it’s important for businesses to stay up-to-date with upcoming developments in the world of marketing. We’ve identified some trends that we expect to come to the forefront this year.

1. AR/VR

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have the potential to be extremely powerful for marketers in 2023 as they become more accessible. Shopping through AR apps is on the rise, with more than 250 million Snapchatter engaging with AR shopping Lenses since January 2021. AR technology will allow brands to create engaging and interactive experiences for their customers.

2. Rise of AI and Machine Learning

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies continue to advance, businesses will increasingly use these tools to optimize their digital marketing efforts. Tasks such as data analytics, content creation and customer segmentation will allow marketers to free up time to spend on strategic decision making and creative tasks.

3. Short-form video content

Nearly a third of all short-form videos are watched 81% of the way through. Combine this with the rise of platforms such as TikTok, YouTube Shorts, IG Reels, and even LinkedIn favouring video content in-feed in 2022, it’s clear that the trend is only just beginning. Not only is short-form content more likely to go viral, but it’s easy for consumers to digest, making it a great way to tell your brand story and promote your products at scale.

4. Digital audio advertising

As the popularity of podcasts continues to grow amongst brands and individuals, as well as the use of devices such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, we’re starting to see the development of new advertising formats as a consequence. Programmatic audio ads, Spotify ads, and others, will allow advertisers to connect with audiences while they’re already enjoying the content they love - whether its music, podcasts or digital radio shows.

5. Customer Experience

In an increasingly competitive digital market, the experience a customer has with a brand will become even more important as a way for businesses to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Customer experience can have a significant impact on the likelihood of purchase. This will lead brands to focus on creating seamless and personalised experiences for their customers across all digital touchpoints.

Over To You…

Not all of the upcoming trends we’ve discussed in this blog will be relevant to your business, but they will certainly have an impact on the digital marketing landscape in 2023.
